Welcoming The New Year In Koh Rong

By starting this first post of the new year, we are wishing you a happy, successful year with top mental and physical health without any fleas, ticks or parasites. I hope all my brothas and sistas out there would keep themselves away from the vets, and will get enough quality food from their owners.
Well we spent the new years eve in an island called Koh Kong. It is a beatiful tropical island on the south west of Cambodia. Before getting there we met our good friend Taluman in Sihanoukville. We know him from Turkey. Thanx to Talu, he organizes everything for us for that incredible week. We would never forget the time we spent on the island. I had a tough time in Otres. And now having a fresh breath finally. I was receiving daily attacks from a dog in Otres Beach and couldn't move so much. Then i had egzama and suffered all week. I was in pain but at least we were on a tropical island with some familiar faces around. Here's the New Years Episode fellas.

A friend of Talu called Hayal was also visiting him. She spent a month in Cambodia and now here with us to enjoy the last week of the year. Talu arranged a room for her; which is not so easy obviously at this time of the year. But Talu has contacts in high ranks everywhere on the island. Anyway  we sneak in the room Hayal rented for herself and stayed there for couple of days with Talu. It was a spatial bungalow though.

The island's one side is full of guesthouses, shacks, bars and restaurants. There are other resorts on separate private beaches at the other sides of the island including some public beaches where you can reach by boat. But all the razzle dazzle is at one side of the island and there's no road to reach the other parts by land. There are some jungle tracks but it is not too advisable unless if you are a ranger or a local resident. Guess why? There is a lot of funny little creatures in the jungle which you don't wanna greet them personally while you are that far from medical help.

Enjoying the sun and the beach can be best described as this i suppose.

At the last day of the year we went to Police Beach to check the preparations for the new years celebrations. There we had a nice surprise by seeing bunch of turkish guys working hard to get the party ready for the night. Couple of girls and boys which we know them from Suma Beach and Wake Up Call, Istanbul decided to leave everything back and moved to this beach on Koh Rong. They will be organizing weekly events on the Island like they did at the new years eve.

Taluman and Culu helped them build some racks out of wood. Police Beach is a newly opened place on the island runned by a turkish guy called Omer. They have a few bungalows, a restaurant and this private beach with crazy weekly parties going on. Looks like a very convincing holiday to me.

We moved to a bungalow at the beach with Talu and Berk at the last day of the year and start waiting for the people to come. Berk's Talu's old friend from Antalya. They work together in Koh Rong Dive Center which provides diving and ferry transports to the island. After helping the party preparations we chilled out at our bungalow until Talu left us asleep. Culu wakes up at 1 o'clock at night and went to join the party right away. Berk follows him just couple of minutes later but i stayed and had a wonderful solo night alone. Watched the waves sparkling through the beach while crazy humans screaming and dancing, until the first daylights of the new year.

 Wasted Divers

Berk and Culu spent all night at the fire pit chatting with people. Tania joined them at some point with the other divers. Tania's working at the same company as a diver. She enjoys diving so much that even in the morning of 1st of january she had to dive.

Our new year bonus: Berk! Great guy. A sensitive capitalist. He told us his stories, his worries, his future plans and theories. We had more time to know each other after the island in Sihanoukville. We just loved him. A very powerful human being. A true running brain. I think we are going to see him again somewhere, somehow.

The Night Chatters

Culu arrived in the morning to pick me up but before that we had a nice little morning nap at the balcony. There were just a few people left at the beach but the turkish crew were still in full swing.

 Awakened Divers

Crazy Turks played until the afternoon that day. Thanx for everything guys.

Welcome 2015 my friend! I have a couple of word to you. You are new. You might not know how things work around now but soon you will learn and start your cycle. I hope you brought fertility, creativity, compassion and justice to all of us. Then you shall go with the flow.

We would like to express our very special thanks to our great friend Taluman who made this week possible. Thank you bro for spending this week with us and for all you have done. We will miss you guys.
